recommendation mostly... i think im going to grab a machine to do some tig welding, aluminum and stainless.

cheapest that i can get away with for a "name brand" machine is a hobart 165i (made by miller now, overseas im guessing?) or a used miller diversion 180/ maybe new if its that much better. looks like the lincoln square wave falls in between both (new) so its probably an option also. i see a few older lincoln square wave/ precision tig machines pop up if the right deal came along id grab one

not really planning to weld anything all that thick and dont want an old as hell 500lb machine. is it really worth saving a couple hundred to buy used or just spend it and pick up a new unit? the manufacturer's warranty worth it?

If the difference from used to new is only a couple hundred, then I'd get new with warranty. If you're not a "pro" and will be learning, then you may make frequent mistakes- Mistakes that may harm your machine so the extra expense warranty may come in handy. Also, the newer computer-controlled stuff has lots of protection circuits in addition to their control circuits so they start and weld super smoothly (easier to learn on and use) but also protect themselves well from accidents.

Yea thats probably what I'll do, just annoying needing a few things done randomly and having to find someone to do it.

Not much else going on...ordered a driveshaft, started plumbing in trans cooler with what tubing I had.

Meh....

1st attempt: I tried to make a 180 off the top, over the top but bender would make a tight enough radius and it hit the trim.

2nd attempt: I tried to go pretty much straight out on the top and around the radiator (follow the other tube) but when I got back under the hood it was pretty much right in front of the turbo and would never get a filter on it.

This is what I ended up with...
