My rear wiper clunks real hard when it disengages and goes back into the the little plastic holder. It looks like it's the bottom tab on the wiper hitting the housing. It only started doing this after I had my hatch repainted and I guess the body shop had to remove and put the wiper back on.

Is there any adjustment or something? I tried a new wiper arm but that just made it worse.

does the rear glass still open? if not then the rear wiper arm may not be parked correctly and may need to be re-aligned. the body shop probably has the puller I would just take it it back and ask them to re-align the rear wiper arm anyway it's probably clunking because it is not at full stop.

When you replaced the wiper arm, did you replace the wiper blade, as well? These rear wiper blades tend to wear our quickly, with the edge of blade material detaching from the rest of the blade backing. If this happens, a relatively hard surface of the blade backing contacts the window edge, instead of the soft edge of the blade, thus making more noise.

Also, if the wiper arm was removed and then re-attached within the last year, there is a good chance that you can remove the wiper arm itself yourself and try repositioning it on the splines of the wiper arm motor.

I replaced the wiper arm already, but I probably used the same splines. I can try just setting it up a notch.

When you pop the glass the wiper parks, with truck running and wiper on stand there and watch it, make sure it’s not going too low as in off the glass when wiping then pop the glass button and see what happens... like joe and doubie said, you may just have to adjust it up a few splines.
