Will z95 shocks work with z55 system, any definitive answer?

Is there that much of a difference in ride between Z55 and Z95 on our GMT900's?

I think it's pretty clear that the 3rd gen Z95 sjocksa shocks different than the 2nx generation Z55.

inresistance (ohms) with a multimeter it should be twice or half the resistance of the Z55 shocks.

That wasn't my question.... I asked if there was much of a difference in the ride quality between the 2.

I’m not sure what the difference is on a normal rig but for me and my now #8000 Escalade with 8lug Denali 2500 wheels, ive always felt like it needs more damping power. I think that the magneride struts have the greatest potential to provide that. The z55s have regular shock valving with the addition of a solenoid in the center. The HD springs with my extra unsprung weigh, I feel just push the fluid right through the z55 valving, and that little solenoid never has a need to open because the fluid rate is already so rapidly displaced.

Looks like Magneride was on upscale models. I would imagine its going to feel different. Everything suspension wise is geared towards comfort as we all know. Is there a ride select switch (sport/ tow/comfort) on the 07-14?

Not that I know. On the k2xx there is.

The prev owner of my 2005 Tahoe put Arnott AS-2708 on the rear to replace the 7-8 year old Delphi air ride z55 shocks. I Just replaced them again. So got another 8 years. Seem to work fine. No more body roll side to side when turning. The Arnotts were obviously worn out. I dont know if they ride the same as the factory air shocks. Oh yeah also replaced air line and air pump too as it was rusted

I know that it’s possible to add RPO options to GM vehicles and if the modules you add run the same OS protocol they work together happily via the CANBUS network. There are about 25 computers on the network in an GMT900 Escalade. I now have 29 as I put an LMM diesel, Allison transmission, and factory integrated trailer brake control module in my 08 Escalade ESV. The front end weighs about 1000# more than stock. I had to put some custom HD springs up front to compensate. The stiffer spring and extra weight really work the shocks, and I only get 80-90k miles out of them before they are shot and leaking profusely.
I bought some 15+ magneride struts to put in. (These have the twin electro magnets inside vs 1 and I believe have a larger DIA center shaft which will hopefully be more robust. Also have the pigtail wires coming out the top).
My first experiment with these was just to plug them in and see how the computer likes them, so I stuffed them under the hood, disconnected the connectors and plugged the magnerides into the harness and took it for a drive around town. The computer didn’t throw any codes or have any issues, so I’m going to go ahead and install these completely and see what happens.
I guess worst case scenario I have to buy a magneride ESCM and plug it in to run the shocks.
I wonder if the rear shocks are all the same, or if there are inherent differences between the Z95Magneride and Z55 electronic Sus.
Very cool. I’d like to hear more about how you added the factory ITBC. What hardware, wiring and programming were involved?

CMatt, the ITBC was just a matter of mounting the module to the frame in an OE like location running the additional wires into the stock loom along the frame rail and following the OE schematics to make sure all the wires connected in the right places. some re-pinning of connectors was necessary, and you have to have the CANBUS wire pair tapped into the Canbus circuit of the vehicle. No programing needed for it to work and activate the trailer brakes. The Escalade dash cluster does not display the brake gain or trailer connected signals, it was never intended to have those capabilities so those lights and messages were not programed into its eprom.
On my tech2 I can see that the ITBCM is on the network and communicating, I can also interrogate the ITBCM and see data like brake line pressure, trailer connected, gain, manual apply switch percentage. It hasn’t thrown any codes to date, so it been happy in its new home for the last 200,000 miles.
