I like the look of the Yukon better but would really like the z71 package, is there a equivalent for the Yukon? how hard are these to do custom tuning on? is there certain years that are easier than others? I would also like the 6.2l but would rather have the 6 speed over the 8 or 10 speed..

im also considering buying a 2nd gen Tahoe. z71's seem more plentiful and reading through a couple post on here the quality of new ones are questionable

Tunes are easy. There are a few tuners mentioned here but the big ones are BlackBear and Diablew. I had my 18 5.3 done by Diablew. Wow. Big difference in drive ability.

I'd aim for a 2018 Tahoe or Yukon with the 6.2 and the 10 speed transmission. The 10 speed tranny is very good and the 2018 model is easier to tune than the 2019 onward due to ECM security measures put in place by GM.

No there's not a Z71 equivalent for the Yukon.

The 10 speed is the best hands down. Denali or RST (w/optional 6.2) would be the way to go IMO.

I like the sound of an early 15 denali with the 6.2l and 6 speed. Ive read the early ones have a lot of issues but hopefully all the issues have been worked out by now. Or are they that bad?

Haha I wouldn't touch an early 15 with a 10 ft pole. I wouldn't say all of the issues have been worked out, I think GM just gave up and started over. The 2018 + are a lot less problematic and like I said the 10 speed is the best.

I don't think the early 15's are bad. Any used vehicle I WOULD drive extensively to check it out. I like the 6 speed auto better than the 8 speed....

You couldn’t give me a 15 or a 16. I’d skip the 17 just because of the 8 speed even though the 17 does ride a whole lot better. Honestly, I’ll very likely be skipping owning one of this body style altogether BUT if I was forced to own one it would definitely be at least an 18 with the 10 speed. Hopefully my 08 and 12 last a long time to come.

An early 15 (or any 15) is way more prone to rough ride/suspension annoyances, booming/buffeting, unsolvable vibrations and build quality issues. Besides that, they're 5 to 6 years old now so there's probably more issues about to pop up. There were complaints with the early 6 speed and still with the 6 in the 5.3s, the 8 speed was obviously junk but the 10 is near amazing. But like you said, an extensive test drive would weed out those issues most likely. And I mean someone has to buy them.
