Are the fake air raid systems you see at the auto stores worth it. When I say fake I mean off brand. Just asking because money is tight

Airaid is a brand, just like whatever you're seeing in the store is a brand. Airaid is known primarily (at least here) for their Modular Intake Tube (MIT). It's about the most ideal setup for a GMT800 and GMT900 since it replaces just the part that's lacking but leaves the factory filter box which is already a "cold air" intake.

If what you're referring to that's at the store is a tube that replaces the factory accordion tube and resonator chambers, then it should function just the same as an MIT. Airaid does make full filter and tube assemblies, though.

If what you're referring to is a shiny tube with a big cone filter on the end, then just turn away and don't look back. You're better off with the factory setup.

If money is tight, you can make your own MIT from PVC pipe and couplings. Paint it black and it'd be legit.

I don't. That was just one I found on a Google image search that was posted on another forum. I forget my search words, but I think "silverado diy intake tube" or something like that would get you started.

If I didn't have the MIT, I'd be rockin a sweet homemade PVC intake.

Being in construction I look at one of those homemade PVC things and think it must be a plumbers truck lol. Couldn’t rock that.
