Underhood LED light?

OEM has a mercury switch IIRC. Could use that. Or there are other switch options like how your lights are triggered when you open your doors.
My ‘02 2500 HD has the light and it’s 100% mechanical. It’s just a heavy metal piece that shorts a contact when the hood is in the upright position. I opened it up to clean the corroded contacts.

What mine is too. I ran the led wires to the contacts that touch the bulb, but it was ng for me. I think the lights stayed on all the time.

Mine is a hood pin. When the hood opens the pins has a spring and goes up making a ground contact. When closed the pin goes down and there’s no contact with a ground. Google examples

That’s genius. I used to throw those out when I would install a remote starter. I like your idea better than oem as I can disable it by putting something heavy on the switch.

Yep , when I work under the hood for a long period of time I use shop lights and just unplug the ground from the hood pin so they’re not on the entire time
