I have the HomeLink in mine, but don’t use it, since I don’t always park in the garage and if somebody breaks in to my truck they will be able to open my garage with the HomeLink. I also don’t want somebody rummaging through my truck and stumbling across my remote. Using a remote momentary switch just gives me more flexibility on where to hide the button. I have a few thousand dollars worth of tools in my garage and I don’t want some scumbag going on a shopping spree.

I reckon you leave the truck at home often? I don't leave the house without my truck, don't drive in anything else, tis the law! LOL

That’s correct. I only drive it on the weekends since I have a company car. Most times it’s in the garage, but now I’m getting ready to move and my garage is a little full right now.

I recently purchased a 2013 Yukon SLE and want to add the stock garage door opener(homelink). I have found a few roof consoles for other trim packages on Ebay with the garage door opener. I have not been able to find one with just the garage door opener. They have control buttons for the sunroof and/or power folding seats (which I have neither) Will this work? Has any one changed this out?
They do have a few on ebay, you didn't specify what color you have, but as an example are you referring to this type?

Why GM decided to make the button hot all the time is a mystery. It’s as if the engineers never thought about security. I was worried about a thief getting access to my garage overnight, so I plug my garage door opener into a smart outlet that turns off overnight.

This gives me an idea. You could interrupt the button with a relay triggered when the ignition is on.

Or you could find the pin out diagram for the connector the homelink plugs into and just disconnect the 12+ constant and use the 12+ ignition lead instead... found in the mirror harness right there by the homelink.

Here you go... this should help you get started...

Now all you need to do is find a diagram for the homelink buttons harness and your set.

The only issue I could forsee with this is if the 12v + constant wire also provides power for the other things in that console, like the powered lift gate, 2nd row power folding seats, etc.... you just wouldn't be able to use those features without the key on.

I am not doing the mod but perhaps the OP will be. I think this is great info tho. I think one could make the wiring changes without loosing the function of the other items tho.

I’m guessing I can reset my garage opener, in the event my ride is no longer in my possession. I have the ability to see the status of my opener on an app as well.
