this is a little late. If you bring it in to a gm dealer, a lot of times with this issue they will replace it free of charge. its a known issue and they go all the time bc of the placement. I have had mine replaced in my Yukon at 14k, my brothers Silverado had his replaced twice in 60k, fathers suburban as well... my brothers was replaced out of warranty both times free of charge.

Yeah I'll end up going that route for sure. The weather has been Cold ever since the A/C went out so It hasn't been on my mind, but I need to get it fixed before it starts warming up again.

Just a little update for anyone curious, It turns out the problem was the condenser. I took it to the Dealership a couple months ago to get a diagnosis and they confirmed it was the condenser, they said it would cost around $1200 for them to replace it, so I politely declined their advances to **** me in the ass.

I Ended up buying an ACDelco Condenser, some refrigerant, a little bottle of pag oil and rented an AC Vacuum pump for all less than 200$. Took about 2 hours to do the whole install and so far has been working flawlessly.

I guess they call them Stealerships for a reason.

GM addressed this under extended miles or 5 years I believe. But too late now. If you were under 75k, it should have been free.

Yeah If I was under warranty I would have definitely taken advantage of that. I actually asked the dealership if GM would give me any leeway with covering it under warranty but they said since I'm already 45K past the limit they wouldn't be able to let it slide.

Ok. I was 28k past it and GM gave me 1/3 of the cost of the repair back.

The A/C in my 2016 Tahoe [82K miles] is finally going belly up. Used to stay nice and cool at 72 degrees but now barely comes out on the lowest setting. When I turn on the rear A/C enough Freon gets into the system to make the front cold again. If I shut off the rear a/c the front starts to get warm again.

Trying to hold off until the next service in about 2K miles but not sure if it will last that long. For right now with the rear a/c on it's bearable. I hate the idea of going to the dealer with this Covid 19 going on. The timing could not be worse. The Temperature in my neck of the woods are in the 90's with jungle humidity everyday.

I knew it was going to go belly up eventually...Just did not know when. Surprised it lasted over 80K miles. The A/C system has been on since day 1.
