You should’ve have any problem. The XL can haul any lumber that a P/U can. You just can’t get a bucket of manure dumped in the bed for the garden.
For many people, you are correct. For me, with a family of 6 and a side business where I do carpentry and custom woodwork, not to mention all the honey-do’s around my house, not so much. I will leave the Denali XL as the family’s urban assault vehicle and vacation vehicle and use my pickup as a truck.

Do miss the avy for dump in bed duty, but I have a pretty good liner in back that works for most stuff (like the 12 bags of mulch I picked up today that leaked wood juice). If you have the space to store it, a small utility trailer would work great for dirty truck bed jobs...

I have a truck and the Yukon XL, three kids and a wife. |Hockey and soccer and groceries. Its a great rig and a beast on the road. nothing can match it. Maybe the escalade but controls are too fussy in that thing. |Denali XL is a normal dudes SUV. Just get one with all the warranty stuff sorted out. Cadillac was a better build. Buy used like I did. 15000 kms.

Anybody go from a pickup truck to a Yukon XL? Had a truck most of my life but really don't have a need for it anymore and with my wife, little guy, and 108lb Weim/Choc Lab mix it would be nice to have the extra space for long trips. I figure I can tow my small enclosed trailer if I need to haul larger stuff around.
I went from a 2007 Silverado 2500 to a 2018 XL. I love everything about the Yukon over the truck other than not having an actual bed. 90% of the time it’s not an issue, but there have been days where we go to haul stuff and I’m cramming things in the back of the Yukon where before I could just easily drop it all in the truck bed.

So I live at the shore and don't have a garden or grass, just 3/4 sandstone that I have delivered when I reapply every few years. The more I read the responses the more I think I'll be okay with using my enclosed trailer or buying a small utility trailer to use if I ever needed to haul something that I wouldn't put into the XL.

I had a company truck for 5 years. It was no fun when I had to turn it back in. We got our 1st Denali XL in 06 because the wife and I are 6’3” and our kids had started to grown out of our ‘02 Audi allroad w/ the rear facing 3rd row seat.

The in-laws had just gotten a burb & XL and my wife leapt at the opportunity to one up them with a Denali XL. In two years of ownership we rented a trailer 3x to haul stuff. It was so damn easy and convenient having a low bed, ez load, a $40 charge and you get rid of it when your done.

None of my friends call to “borrow” my truck anymore though. Don’t miss the truck at all after the bagged ride on the Denalis’

I went from a Silverado pickup to a Yukon Denali XL and really don't miss the pickup. I can still get any of the lumber I might need in the Yukon XL and with the large WeatherTech(https://www.weathertech.com/gmc/2018/yukon-xl/cargo-liner/) mat in the back, you can throw just about anything back there

Another reason I changed from P/U to Suburban was that I could fit eight people comfortably inside which really came in handy on BSA camping trips.

Also, I loved the 8’ bed but hated only room for 3 in the P/U cab. The back seat is great but then most beds are only 6’ unless one gets a huge dually with crew cab and 8’ bed which is a parking nightmare.

So with the Suburban you get the extra seats and the eight foot space but not both at the same time!

I went from an extended cab z71 to my xl. When my son wanted to sit in thr middle to see better and started using the center console as an ottoman, figured it was time. I had a hard tonneau on it, so anything that didn't fit under I used a trailer anyway. Saved my back from helping many people move, lol. I like to describe the xl as a newer enclosed pickup. The 13 xl I believe is 1' shorter overall and 1' shorter wb than my 01 z71 ext cab 6.5' bed. The biggest adjustment is making sure things you wouldn't normally worry about hitting you in the head, don't now. Ex. Dead deer, tree stands, 5 gal gas cans. Fire wood etc, just my 2 cents. Overall, virtually identical, but the bluetooth ang steering wheel controls are so nice. I only have an ls. Leveled with duratracs a corsa and debadged ..... so it's different. And that's what the old girl had.
