Yes the end is open and there's a hole in the inner fender it goes up against.

Yes, they do supply a plug for it and I'm not sure if the dyno test was with or without the plug. I figure the more air the better, I know what you mean though because on my old cars my air scoops are above the hood.
Hopefully the cowl induction hood I have planned will eliminate some under hood heat.

On my 03, there's an air tube in the fender, feeding cold air to my Volant airbox. Goes from an air scoop bolted below the front bumper to the bottom of the box. With my stock motor, giving it 1/4 pedal sounded like I was romping on it! Sounded exactly how you described it--like flipping the air cleaner.

This takes at least a 4,000 rpm romp while in park sitting in the driveway to get the sound, I didn't test drive it after I installed it. With the shutdowns I'm not sure when the DMV will reopen to register and tag this thing, my 30 day temp tag is out.

Is that something you made or did it come in the kit or was it stock ?

Ok, found most of the pics. I have over 6,000 pics lol!
This is the complete kit:20200326_224622.jpg
The square box is the snorkel piece that actually bolts behind a tow hook:20200326_224643.jpg Screenshot_20200326-223250_Photos.jpg
The hose/pipe that's inside the fender that feeds into the bottom of the air box:20200326_223334.jpg
This is the inlet on the bottom of the air box that the hose connects into:20200326_224811.jpg
It's a very nice setup. I have a dry high flow air filter with some sort of high flow nylon type cover on it.
