Chevron with techron

I have read where people say my 08 Yukon XL denali would run better on higher octane and Chevron techron. But we literally have no gas stations around me that sells it. Can an additive help

I have always use Chevron 91, if you have costco around not sure if they stock it in your area but they sell the techron fuel additive in 6pc box. I have used shell especially on long drive where sometimes no chevron close by, @iamdub what is your experience with shell that you stay away from that gas station? just curious thanks

Shakier idle, worse MPG and perceivable loss in power. This is comparing 91 because that was all I ran exclusively up until this past winter when I decided it was pointless during colder weather and with how little I was driving it. I would run my usual Valero, Chevron and Exxon and try a tank of Shell either because they were the cheapest or because I was on fumes and they seem to have stations everywhere one would be desperate for fuel. The difference was immediate and obvious to me. I also tend run my tank really low before refilling so whatever I had previously would be a very small, negligible amount mixed in.

I should probably include that my experience is with random Shells around my Gulf coast area and the mixtures are probably different up north.

Chevron with Techron 2 blocks down the street. Plus they take my Safeway gas points.

Anecdotal evidence, but when I was pulling logs for my custom tune, my tuner told me to use Mobil gas stations and never ever use Shell.

He tunes a lot of vehicles so I took him at his word.

Don't know what your problems are with Shell, been running it in all 4 vehicles for the last 20 years, 3 of them have
clean tailpipes, all fuel injected and well maintained, with oil changes on schedule and tune ups. 2000 Tahoe Limited,
05 5.3L Sub and 05 Toyota Matrix

My 4th is 4 barrel carbureted, old hot rod 55 Chevy 210, hard to run clean tail pipes, all run strong with Shell, keeps combustion chambers clean along with spark plugs. I'd post pictures of tail pipes if I knew how, show me yours.

Well, I guess I've just been extremely lucky.

Frankly, in my last 20 years of driving, I can't remember a single instance of getting "bad gas" from a gas station. Shell, Mobil, Exxon, Marathon, Speedway, Costco, Sams, BP, and even no-name brands when on road trips in the middle of BFE.

I've also never had any fuel-related issues in my vehicles - clogged injectors, etc. I also don't run any additives either. Current stable of six vehicles includes on with 200k miles, and two with 100k miles.

Guess I should probably go out and buy some lottery tickets.

Oh, and I run only 91+ octane in my Denali.

Not a problem, per se. Just that my mpg drops at least 1, usually 2 mpg when I run shell vs mobil. I was a shell guy for a long time, as well. I'm not anymore.
