This is insane... So, the part is discontinued. However, there's other vehicles that used it. I found one by chance surfing eBay. It's the Mercedes Benz ML320 between 98 and 05. I think it's the same motor, pics look exact same and Siemens part number stamped on motor casing is the same. I ordered one, wish me luck. It looks the exact same, I'll see if it works the same. It's WAAAAAAAAAAY cheaper. Just paid $27 for the motor, granted is used, hopefully gears got some life left in them.

Then I'm going to glue the gears back together in these two motors I have and hold them as spares perhaps or if somebody needs one on here maybe they can have these.

Never seen this gruvenparts.com. I may have to search for the gear set. I seriously think this is a business opportunity rebuilding and or selling motors for these. They are the weak point in the sunroof design, no doubt, and they aren't made anymore. There's a million + of the 2000 to 2006 tahoes / K1500s out there. I'm certain most of them have experienced this failure, if not they will soon as plastic gears like this have a shelf life. They don't last forever.

My sunroof was all busted up and missing parts. It's been RTV'ed shut but I'm determined to fix it now. So I bought an another assembly from the junkyard. I've tore it all down cleaned, greased, and tested the new setup. Turns out the new sunroof setup has a faulty motor just like my old setup. The gears are cracked on them both.

I see the motor assembly is AC Delco Part# 15163056 Unfortunately, that part says it's discontinued though. Certainly GM would have a replacement part or updated motor assembly as I'm guessing this is quite common.

Anybody know where I can get a new motor assembly? Or better yet a replacement gear set? I'm going to try to glue the gears back together. We'll see what happens. My truck is a 2001 Tahoe Z71 5.3L etc etc etc.

I will have to dig through these gears out of curiosity and see if I can find the gear set that's in the transmission part of the motor.
