I was wondering why did Chevrolet name the 2015 Tahoe 5.7 L engine a L83 ? It is clearly a LSX series engine and a pick of the L83, which was already used in the 1982-84 Corvette (Sadly ) Why not just give it it's original designation of a LS something ? The L83 was a unfortunate engine, it was the now infamous "Cross-fire" intake engine, which was doomed to death before it left the engineering department. It was chouk by too small intake and exhaust systems, and when coupled to it's elementary ECM it was virtually impossible to modify with any meaningful improvements.

Odd, very odd !

There are only so many 3 digit codes that can start with "L" so they reuse them. The legendary L96 of Chevelle fame gave way to another L96, the HD 6.0 motor of our time.

My first car had an LC8 in it. I've owned cars with LC2s, LC4s, LF9, LM9, LZ9 and am driving behind an LC9 today, thirty plus years later.

My wife's first car had an LT3 in it, but it's not the LT3 you'd expect!

The 5.3 liter and 6.2 liter are the only available engines for the 2015-2020 platform. Please elaborate? Typo?
