Hi, i am about to buy a 2005 Yukon Denali. My only complaint is, I actually prefer the stock unit over the GPS unit. I have a 2002 and 2004 suburban and I love the basic knobs and simple layout of the stock system. However, I don't want to start messing up the electronics by swapping them out. Is it possible, or easy, to swap out the GPS unit for the stock unit? I could buy one off of ebay used fairly cheap. Before I embark on this, I would like to know that I'm not going to destroy my electronics by doing so. Thank you in advance for any help.

Please post the model of the GPS or head unit that is currently on the suv, it will help. A picture works as well. We are not mind readers to know what HU has been installed.

Oh I see.... I assumed he was talking about an aftermarket system and going back to a stock nav unit.... either way kinda baffles me... but to each their own...
Right. I want to go to a stock (no nav) one. I get migraine headaches from certain LCD screens and just want to know if it's an option if I find it too irritating.

If I remember right, there are 2 different GPS radio units as well as 2 different NON GPS radio units. The difference is inside the radio itself and has something to do with the Y91 RPO code and making the upscale amp work it's magic. You can use the basic radio with knobs, but it has to come from another 03-06 Denali or Escalade that had the Y91 code.

And then VIN programmed, or no?
