Looking at bad cats on my 02 5.3

Standard gas engine with California emissions

Looks like all the CA emissions cats are far more $ than those for cars with fed emissions.

Can I put fed cats on my CA engine?

The state i live in doesnt do emissions testing anymore so that wont matter.

The question is, will it negatively affect anything on my Tahoe? Will it cause CEL or performance issues?

I wont have to do emissions testing probably for as long as I own the truck and am most certainly never going to CA... Just want save a couple hundred bucks if I can

Found this: "You may use a non-CA converter if they are physically the same. Sometimes, California emissions cars have physically different exhaust setups, and sometimes they are the same. If the non-California cat is physically the same size and fits right in, then you can use it with no problem."

Doubt it. I have Federal cats on mine and it has California emissions. No problems whatsoever. I believe its a matter of CARB stampings and nothing else. We have different generations of trucks so double check.
