Agreed. Transmissions are the week point. Much easier and cheaper to fix a trans then it is to do body work. How much are they asking? 156,000 is pretty good for an 06.
You're right... as a SF Bay Area person I always forget about rust. Not a speck of rust on my 01 Burb with 290K. Original engine. Probably original trans. Runs and shifts like new except for a misfire if I push it above 4500RPM for a long time. Don't need to do that often so basically it's no issue :) In other words, I'd recommend paying more attention to rust than the trans, but pay attention to the trans too :)

Found another one in Minnesota. Denali comes from AZ. He bought it off an older couple 2 years ago. No rust. Comes with winter tires and rims as well as summer tires and rims. He also wants 9000 for the vehicle. 139,000 miles. Going to do a VIN check on it.6df9a5a77d09b5a1e6bd2c47de4f1f10.jpgfddab7b288602dc3f5f226d2dfd87d1b.jpg4b18f6171c1c38f2e84b818bc4039c76.jpgf3c175362f8e17569f104a1dbad65782.jpg7d36f7be208a8eedc35fd073f429fc04.jpg431e1c73c95ab9690a2b7a47c4263a5f.jpg

So the second one, the black one. I ran a Vin check and it was in a minor accident. He said the insurance company totaled out the vehicle and he did the repairs. This is a pic. Stated no frame damage. Just bumper and hood. VIN check shows no salvage or junked vehicle and he said the title is clean . Here is a pic. You can't even tell there was damage

Do I use that as a negotiations point or move on?

That’s not bad for a 2006. My 2004 just turned 108K a couple of months ago. I bought mine 5 years ago when it only had 46K on her. They are out there, just have to be patient. I think I spent close to 6 months looking for the right one. It didn’t look this clean when I bought it, but it was well maintained with no rust, dents, or accidents.

Why would the insurance total out a truck for that amount of damage?! I can’t imagine a hood and front end would cost more than the value of the truck? That seems odd to me. Like @Danny3737 said the low mileage clean trucks are out there. I looked for mine for a few months before purchasing mine as well.

I'd at least look. Check for wrench marks under there or clamp marks on the frame.

I can tell in the second pic something isn't right. Look at the top of the bumper cap. It's much farther out on the driver side.

They go by a certain percentage of damage compared to the value of the vehicle itself.
