Long story short, I have an 07 Yukon base package no frills no auto lift gate. I backed into a Jeep with a large bumper guard, so my hatch was toast. It still worked, opened and closed properly but was pretty smashed. Fast forward about 10 months I’m cruising thru Facebook marketplace and see a matching color hatch. Bought the door and mounted it up, this is when I realize it has an extra wiring harness. I figure the door came from a suburban with the auto lift gate. As of now the handle to open the hatch isn’t working. The rear wiper works so I know there is power to the door. But that is all I’m sure of. New door also has a back up camera which the original didn’t have. Hoping someone has some ideas of where I can start. Thanks in advance for any info.

By hatch, I assume you are referring to the entire assembly, not just the glass, correct?

If that is the case, can you open the glass with the button or is that not working either?

Either way, I might check the condition of the switch/buttons on the new assembly and see if they are bad.

Here is the GMupfitters schematic for your year if vehicle. Page D-53 gets into the liftgate wiring. One thing I noticed is that there are some sensors that the power lift gate has that your base model might not have as well as the power lift has the ability to “cinch up” the door as it closes which I don’t believe manual la liftgates have. These might be playing a roll as well.

Might need to play a little “which one of these is not like the other” between your new liftgate and your old and see what’s different underneath the covers.

As stated above and check the condition of the wires. They’re famous for cracking and exposing bare wire.

Yes entire assembly, the whole door. The button for the glass release( external) is missing. I’m going to order that today. Are the 2 connected? If one doesn’t work

Watch this and his related videos if you need more. He also swapped doors of one type for another and of course shows tips and tricks on how to swap parts over and other priceless wisdom.

Thanks for the help. Swapped out the door latch at the bottom and the wiring harnesses and I’m good to go.
