Identifying Brackets & a Connector

Hey y'all,

Currently doing a head swap on my 2004 Z71 5.3L FLEX.

Noticed the bracket in the red square is loose. Seems to have chewed through the Ground Strap too. It holds the fuel lines and EVAP. A plastic connector is also free.

Would anyone know where this is tied down, and with what size bolt/bolt holes on the head/block?
Where does the push-in clip in the red circle goes? Seems like it goes into the first bracket.
There's a bracket on the old set of heads that I'll be swapping over, but could anyone define how this bracket works?

This is just a guess, but I think your second pic might be a guard to protect the fuel rail in the event of an accident. The round part at the top sits right behind the end of the fuel rail, with maybe a 1" gap. Keep it from being ruptured if the engine were to hit the firewall. SWAG, though.

Ahh cool that is rad. I'll make sure everything is seated properly with that.

The burning question is the loose bracket though. Any ideas on how that might be tied down?

I can't tell from your pic if it's near the rear of the driver's side valve cover, or where?

Yes it is! This is sitting right near where the fuel line guard (as identified earlier in the thread) sits on the rear of the driver's side head.

Looks like the fuel line bracket; I think it might get bolted to a transmission bolt. Here's a pic of a later model one. Does yours look similar?

Yes it does. Fairly certain the lighter gray piece is what's wrapped around my dual fuel lines.

I just looked at mine and there nothing there in that area at all that resembles that bracket (at least nothing I can see) unless you took it off previously then I would just put it to the side for now and figure it out later, the only thing that even resembles it on mine is on top of the intake (6.2l) I don't know how much difference there is compared to the 5.3

Appreciate you having a look. This is as far in as I have been on this vehicle. The bracket was floating when the head came off.

My only concern is it wearing through the ground strap. It's gotten a head start, but isn't too bad. I will improvise since everything is rigid even without it secured.
