np149 stuff:
to sum up.... i ordered a complete rebuild kit about 2 weeks ago, the viscous coupling got sent and delivered a couple days after. figured no big deal itll come from a few diff places. waited.... waited... looking at the order online it said it was shipped and delivered, waited another couple days. finally called them today and told them only got one part a week and a half ago wheres the rest?? he gets typing on the computer and comes back and says its getting delivered...today. :banghead: so i got to look like an impatient a-hole.
still no idea when the 32 spline input adapter will be done. coming up on 2 weeks with it also.

is that the magnesium one?

now that you mention it, i didnt even check...pretty sure it does feel heavier than the old case half - maybe aluminum? the old case half wasnt in bad shape so maybe ill check and just reuse the old one if it is magnesium.

another item on the agenda is making this thing shift into something other than D, looking at that diagram the only parts that are different between 6speed and 4speed trucks are #22(handle) and #24(gear selector mechanism) prob going to order both and see if its that easy

A magnet may somewhat stick to magnesium so that's one way to check, you need a 3d printer for those other goodies :D

its aluminum... which kinda sucks cause they press the rear out bushing and the front out support bearing into the case before they ever send it, i could just order those two items and swap them into the magnesium case to reuse it i guess.

truck is about back together, battery was dead so its on the charger now. if i can get it running check fluids and for leaks.
i need to put the lower cover on the transmission, which i gotta pull the exhaust cross over back off to do. after that, sway bar and i think its about ready to be put back on the ground.

i pressurized the coolant system and no leaks into the radiator cooler lines so a little premature on that :anitoof:. was planning on eventually doing it anyway so no big deal - its not done yet but i will see how the weekend goes.

You've actually had 3-4 consecutive posts lately that weren't about some sort of misfortune with all of this. Ima call you "Charmin" cuz you're on a roll!

the magnesium is better but you can put a case saver on it and that way it wont wear and start leaking not sure how those fit i'm assuming it goes on the inside. nothing to worry about right away, I drove mine to almost 300k it leaked but it was a very slow leak those things are tough I beat the crap out of mine and it didn't break till about 300k and I'm not sure it was even broken but the transmission shop blamed the transfer case and warrantied it anyway.
