We have a 15 Suburban, I'd like a 13-14 Escalade, What do you think?

Hello 07-14 Subforum!

We have a 15 Suburban and loving it since we got it in 16
I really like the 13-14 Escalade , especially with the body color grill and rear dual exhaust.
I can see now these have gone down in price, under 100k miles can be found for under 25k$
Any recommendations, or things to watch out for?
thanks!

AZ- you need to watch for rear air shocks blown and bad air compressors. Likely 13's and 14's have both since 5-7 years is about what these last. My 2012 Denali had a bad compressor and one f the shocks has a hole in air bladder.

The Escalade and Denali are mechanically the same just fancy trim on the Caddy. Great vehicles btw. Your going to love the 6.2 great POWER....

Watch out for thieves, they love those things! I like the Platinums with their unique front ends, lights and leather interiors.

there really isn't anything to "watch out for" except for poor maintenance or rust if you live in a rust belt area. these are great trucks if properly maintained. ask about service records or look over the carfax, visually inspect the vehicle under the hood and under the vehicle drivetrain. If the vehicle has not been maintained then expect to spend some money getting it up to par.

Thats what I did. I had a 2015 Denali XL and a 2017 Denali XL...........Too many issues for that price point. I never had any issues worth mentioning with 2007-2014 generation prior. So after 2 duds I bought a 2013 suburban LTZ and couldn't be happier.
Buy the newest you can from a southern state. Mine had maintenance records from new which is huge. This LS based truck is a cheap keep but don't buy an unmaintained truck or a cleaned up mystery. If cared for from new these trucks go way over 200K with few big issues. Usually hear trans issues over 160-200K. Good luck

Expect the older style Escalade to ride smoother, shift smoother and just be plain nicer to drive than your 15 Suburban.

This right here is very true!!! ^^^^^The new trucks do handle well at speed and tow well...but ride terrible in comparison to a 2012 or 2014. My '17 Denali rode hard. I used to call it a tight ride, but it was harsh. Not plush at all. I am certain it was intentionally designed that way but it is a luxury truck with a crap ride. These older trucks ride much nicer and have better seats. Everyday I drive my '13 I am still so upset at my prior Denali...because the '13 does it better. It is Soooooo much more comfortable.

After driving some 15 and up's... I wasn't impressed, I have looked at some 11-14 eskys, they ride better, and all around are a crap ton more comfy... Main failures are power running boards and air suspension and sometimes hvac display. Rest is game on....

Stick with the ESV for the best ride for sure, these long ones love the road.... Shorts are good for around town and twisty roads...

Thank you everyone for the replies.
I would indeed look for a low mileage, under 50k miles, 13 or 14, Escalade with the 20" wheels, maintenance records and southern state.
Silver as a preferred color.
Maybe even fold down DVD for the kiddos.
Plus When I rented one I remember how good they sound even on the stock exhaust!
