Does anyone know if 2002 6.0's were the last year for iron heads? If not, when was the last year for the iron cylinder heads on the 6.0's? I'm not sure what this motor is from, or even if it's from a Suburban. I didn't find anything conclusive online.20200114_154319.jpg 20200114_154325.jpg 20200114_154405.jpg 20200114_154454.jpg

That was a '99 and '00 thing. '01+ got aluminum heads. I think that may also the changeover year for the thinner crank flange, thus the advent of the crank spacer to make up for the thinner flange for the newer motor being mated to the older style 4L80E as with the earlier HD trucks.

Maybe an early '01 at best, like one of the first few to come off the assembly line and they were trying to use up the iron heads leftover from their stock.

I show 99-00 LQ4 used the 873 iron heads. Then it went to the 317 aluminums. Same flow.
I would concour with Chris that the latest would likely be an early 01.
