Interesting wiper issue

So I bought the hoe back in June. I thought the wipers were worn. Typical chattering like they were worn. Bought new Bosch blades. Same problem. Thought I got some defected blades. Would chatter into the up wipe but wipe ok on the down stroke. Got tired of it after a few months and bought another set of a different brand. Same freaking deal. Any ideas? Maybe possible solutions to try? Real freaking annoying.

Do you remember to take off the thin protective sleeve if they have them?

i actually had the same issue with the Bosch blades. turned out they didnt like the rainx that was in my washer fluid. i ended up grabbing some cheap washer fluid real quick instead of the good stuff and it stopped. i got rid of the bosch wiper blades early tho they wore out too quick.

i suggest Michelin endurance

24 driver/22 passenger side... pretty quiet even when "dry"

no wind noise or lifting

I used 24/24 on mine. you can see how crisp it cuts threw the snow

When I purchased my new-to-me 2007 Yukon XL Denali, one of the first maintenance items that I performed was to change all three wiper arms, in addition to the blades themselves. The cost of the arms from Rock Auto was very reasonable, and I now have full spring tension on the blades, and there is no chatter at all. I use Bosch blades.

I think there might be something that was sprayed on the windshield prior to me owning it causing it. But I did put rain x on it awhile back because of this issue.

I thought about the tension could be possible. I might see if I can squeeze some zip ties on the springs and see if it helps.

You could do that, but I believe that you will find that to be a difficult task, with little improvement in applied spring tension, as you won't be able to tighten the zip ties enough to force additional spring tension, with out breaking the zip ties. Give it a try, though, if you wish.

For less than $70, you can replace all 3 wiper arms from Rock Auto, giving you new springs with full tension, new nozzles with no residual scale reducing flow, and fresh new paint with no cracks, chips or hazing.

Also, I continue to use Rain-X or equivalent washer fluid with no chattering, which I like, as when it rains, I do not need to use the wipers at all, unless it is a real heavy downpour.

After 30+ years, I switched to GMs concentrate and make my own now, should have done this decades ago.
