Does sound like an albatross for sure. I’ve seen auto with low of course but haven’t seen any Tahoe’s or Yukons other than Denali that were AWD but there are lots of combos out there. What year?

It's a 03. Where the push button for 2wd should be there is a button to turn off traction control. Then underneath that button there is neutral and then four low like a normal setup.

Welcome to the Forum from NH.

I have not seen or heard of that setup, but most folks here are more knowledgeable and more experienced than me on these trucks.

2002 Tahoe. Mine is Auto 4 WD on the top button. Then 2 WD, then neutral, then 4 HI button and then 4 LO button. Is that what you have? Welcome to the forum from Oregon.

My '02 Tahoe has the following selectable options:
Auto 4wd
2 Hi
4 Hi
4 Lo

It's a nice feature. In slippery conditions I use the Auto 4wd. 4Hi may cause binding of the drivetrain on turns. I use 4 Hi in snow as it is more effective than auto 4wd.

For normal driving I use 2 Hi.
