2017 Tahoe LT 5.3 4x4 - what trans do I have?

Dumb question, but wondering if its the 6 speed or 8 speed, all I have on my dash display is "D" and "L" , and I can't really count the gear shifts as I drive.

Do I have the 6 speed or 8, and what should I be looking out for/what am I in for down the road? 44k miles, no issues, but planning on getting a trans flush next time I take it in for service - in the next 2 weeks or so

Should I do the trans flush , and anything else come to mind, lie differential, etc?

All replies appreciated, I love my truck but my mechanical skills are not my strong point .

If you selector has manual mode + and -, then you can manually select the gears. Six speed will not display a number bigger than 6........

If you have a 2017 Tahoe with the 5.3 then you have a 6 speed. The special edition RST with the 6.2 has the 10 speed. The Yukon Denali and Cadillac with the 6.2 engine starting in October 2015, also known as the 15.5 or interim, had the 8 speed.

Just want to give a heads up my wife’s 16 burb with 76k trans just took a shit. Hesitating while low acceleration Turned into serious squealing. Turns out I guess pretty common issue with these trucks but not seeing alot of guys on here with issue also have not dug super far anyways.from my understanding The torque converts are garbage and come apart clogging the filter and burning up pump and trans. GM wanted 4900 to do job. Brought it to a reputable transmission shop in CT and he said 3400 new oem pump/filter re work aftermarket valve body and aftermarket Torque converter truck just arrived there today. I’ll keep posted what happens sorry if hijacked post I will make a new one
