Update. Pretty damn frustrated right now.

After the rebuild I expected this thing to drive like new-at least transmission wise but it literally drives the same exact as before, of course before the planetary issue.

I talked about this issue before with my old trans that every once in a while the rpm would flutter between shifting gears. Not sure if this is the same as a slip? Anyways it did this every once in a while and I expected this to be gone after the rebuild but nope. Still fluttering between shifts. I think between 2 and 3. The trans shop said he replaced all the gears because some were stating to burn up

It sounds as if air is not being pushed out of somewhere. Like a vvvvvvvvshhh noise when it does that. I asked myself if this could be exhaust related but I don’t think so

Could this be related to anything else but the transmission

Edit: on the way to work it did this a few times and some of the times were a lot more noticeable than this video. I will try to capture a video with it being more noticeable.

Did they replace that planetary with the upgraded 5 pinion one?

Good question. One of my buddy’s asked me the same question. I do not know. Mind you I know nothing about transmissions

I sent this video to the shop owner. He said it could be part of the “break in” but if it does it for the next couple days to bring it in.

After you mentioned shift solenoid I looked up symptoms and some matched so I asked about this and he said since it goes into gear out of park that indicates to him it’s not the shift solenoid.

Hope it gets better. Glad they admitted its not the way it should shift.

Did they test, rebuild and test the valve body again? This is a pump or valve body issue, maybe the input clutch piston housing or seals.

Is it just me, or should there be no “break in” for a transmission..? [emoji848]

When I had my 05 Tahoe, I replaced the 4L60 in it. It's been so long, but I kind of remember having to do a re-learn to the computer using a tech 2. If memory serves, the computer thinks it's the old trans and is compensating for what was failing. Now that it's a rebuilt trans, the computer is still treating it like it's the old slipping one. In any case, that's not normal and could burn clutches quickly shifting like that.
