Hi, first time posting. Newbie question here. I appreciate everyone's help and expertise.

Just bought a 2016 Tahoe LT that came with the 20" polished aluminum wheels. Rims are pretty scuffed up, so we were wanting to replace them with some aftermarket replicas... something like this: https://www.carid.com/topline-replicas-wheels/v1184-2017-gmc-denali-v1184-295827gm-1230658900.html

Will we need new TPMS sensors or can they be salvaged off the original wheels? If we do need new ones, anyone have a link to what we need?

Also, other than lug nuts, anything else we need?

Thank you in advance!

Welcome from Iowa.

Your TPMS sensors should swap over as far as I know.

They can be pulled out and reused but if you're going to keep the Tahoe I'd recommend replacing with new. Not a lot of money and with the new batteries should last a long time.

Thank you both for the reply. If I do go ahead and buy new ones, any recommendations on which ones to get / part number? Thanks

Who ever mounts your existing tires to the new rims should have them in stock, you can buy them from them. Mom and pops tire shops don't carry sensors.

Welcome from NH. As you can see, folks here freely share information and perspectives.

If you decide to replace the TPMS sensors when you change wheels, as Tom3 recommends, Rock Auto has these sensors at price points from $26 to $55 each. But, to be safe, you should match them up with the correct part number for your truck.

To obtain the correct part specifically for your truck, I recommend that you contact your local GMC dealer, give them your VIN number, and let them give you a price quote for the part. Also, and more important, once you have been given a price, ask them what the specific part number is. Then, you can look at alternate suppliers, like Rock Auto, using the correct part number.

Some folks here on the Forum may be able to give you the part number, and if so, they will chime in.

I with you the best of outcomes with your truck and new wheels.

or other option, you could sand the current rims to smooth out the issue spots & they spray w/ plastidip
