I've tried google and called with some American exhaust dealers here in the Netherlands.

Because I want to change my muffler I measured my exhaust and it seems very weird. From the cats it goes to single 2,75 inch into muffler and dual out 3,0 inch to single 3,0 inch coming out of the back.

I'm just wondering whats going on? It looks all original. And obviously it's all fixable with some customization. But wth?

I hope you guys can tell me more!

Greets from the Netherlands,

please give us the specific year and specific model too please. i did find one muffler from walker thats supposed to be oem. it specifically has a notation that it replaces the stock dual outlet muffler. but specific year and model may point to an odd 1 yr design change or something.

sounds like someone may have previously replaced the muffler that had a dual out and the "y" piped it back into a single out, in which case you can just replace it with whatever is suitable for you and delete the y pipe if necessary, like Chris said some pictures would be helpful.

Hi guys, many thanks for the replies so far. I understand that pictures will make it more clear. I will try to get my Tahoe on a lift this weekend so I can make some proper pictures. Will get back to you guys!

It's a 2001 LT 4wd.

Also, are there any exhaust restrictions where you live? No duals, a certain tone, are cats required, do you get inspected, etc?

Yes the Netherlands is the most ****** up country to live in as a car enthousiast. For example, a Tahoe in 2001 cost around €70.000 or $66.000 compared to that years course. That has all to do with emissions. Around €17.000 of the €70.000 was payed only for emissions. And the rules about cats and emissions depend on the year of the car but I'm sure I need to keep those. And yes the emissions output will be tested every year with the MOT. Also decibels. But the thing is, this Chevy Tahoe is more quiet then most of the cars because when I arrived with my Peugeot 1.1 gasoline all stock at my moms, she would hear that, and the dog too. But she rarely hears me arriving with the Chevy, same counts for the dog who hears everything. Also Diesel cars make more noise then the Chevy. But anyway, I can keep writing for days but I got some pictures!!

Btw, this Chevy is original Dutch delivered, most American cars are imported. So the guy who bought it at the time, had to be fairly rich.

So here the cats come from the front, yes I have a leaking oil-filter. Will be replaced soon.

Cats here connecting to the single 70mm/2.75 inch tubing that goes to the muffler:

So 2.75 inch into muffler:

Then dual 3 inch out of muffler, and you can see them forging into single 3 inch:

Ok have to make new post for rest of pictures

And we Dutch people call this a large muffler. A truck has smaller ones here in the Netherlands ;)
