Looks really nice and you got exactly what you wanted. How does it compare to your 2019?

Thanks. I'm surprised in the inconsistency of the build quality between the two considering they are almost the same vehicle. The only issue I had with the 2019 was that the transmission had a delayed shift going from reverse to drive. It would slip and bang into gear on occasion. I took it to the dealer and they said it was normal. I knew it wasn't and the 2020 does not exhibit this behavior. Other than that the 2019 was very tight, no squeaks or rattles to speak of.
The 2020 has a bunch of issues as far as how it was assembled. The upper console was not installed correctly, the locating tab on the passenger side was on the outside of the lower console. I took it apart and put it back correctly. I find the 2020 has many squeaks and rattles that I'm trying to track down. The center stack, dash, console, drivers door and rear hatch all have issues. There is also something rolling around in the dash, maybe a screw or something that I hear on turns, braking, and acceleration. I have to get to some of these issues but have had some family members health concerns that haven't really given me the time.

As far as the difference between the 19 and 20, I do feel a bit better off the line acceleration with the 3:42 gears. It isn't anything major but I can tell the difference so I am happy about that. The transmission is fine, no slipping. I also am happy with the look now that I have the PPV air dam installed. I like the truck, I am just disappointed in the wide variation I see as far as I guess what I would call build quality/assembly. I don't know if there is anything to that theory of getting a car built after a holiday or weekend but this one was built right after the strike. It may have even been in the process of being built when the strike took place, I don't know. It makes me think though lol. If I can get all the annoying noises out of it then I will really be happy with it. It is kind of unique in that it is basically a third row delete with a Max Trailer and Midnight Edition which is what I wanted but couldn't order. So I wound up buying two lol. I have the options I want for the most part, don't have the stuff I didn't want, but I have it with an intact warranty in case I have a major issue. Mixed bag so far!

Sorry to hear about those issues, they can be really annoying. I had an early build 2015 that I had many issues with and eventually had to Lemon Law and then purchased a 2017. I traded it last year for a Chevy 2500 to pull my travel trailer and I sure miss my Tahoe. I also had several issues with squeaks in my 2015. I used silicone spray(no specific brand) that I purchased from discount auto parts. It actually took care of my squeaks with easy cleanup and no harm to the plastic pieces. You may want to give it a try. I couldn't stand the squeaks. The part rolling around is like you stated, take things apart and find it. Unfortunately you may be on to something if it was built around the time of the strike. Maybe they were rushing to get them out or the employees just didn't care at that point. If you work at it you will get things squared away. It really looks nice especially with the parts installed from the 2019. Good luck with the repairs and enjoy. You spent a lot of money and should not have to deal with any issues.

Bummer. You’d think they’d have it dialed it by the time the last ones were rolling off the line.

Any chance the backup cam has better resolution and night capabilities than your 2015?

I was hoping that too. I understand most people don't have issues and that forums are usually the place people complain about the issues they have. But I do see that the same issues are common among the complaints. I would think by the final year of a run they would have figured out how to address that kind of thing. With the prices of these vehicles I don't think any of them should squeak and rattle especially in the last years of the run. That is one of my biggest pet peeves, a new car that doesn't sound solid. When I get time I'll just have to dismantle it and go over every piece of plastic in there and do what the engineers should have done that designed it. Felt tape, tie wraps, silicone, and whatever else it needs to isolate the components and quiet it down. I hate to do it to a brand new truck but I've had my fill of dealership damage and will have to do it myself. The warranty will just have to be for major failures that cost thousands to fix, everything else I have found you're better off trying to fix it yourself to avoid collateral damage.

I posted on another of my threads that I found a bolt that fell out of the dash on my passenger floor mat today. Something has been rolling around in there driving me crazy and I'm really hoping this is it. The threads on the bolt look like they have never been in contact with anything. I was in a mall parking lot the other day whipping the truck around trying to hear where it was coming from. I think I got it to roll out of wherever it was....I hope.b1.jpg b2.jpg

That’s funny. Glad you found that, but I can see it now on the evening news.

“Large SUV in the local mall parking lot was driving very erratically and was pulled over for suspected drunk driving. Owner claimed he might have a screw loose. Court date set for.....”
