Yes i bought a Tahoe without it and now have regrets! So here goes..

we have a Travel Trailer that we pull and the Tahoe did ok with it short distance but I want more capabilities.

1.I'm looking at installing a P3 brake controller. I need to find a mounting place for it. I Cant stand the tra mounted right at the knee level where i bang my right knee on it every time i get in. Any suggestions?
I was thinking in the hard pocket bottom of the center console?

2.Brake kits. any suggestions. PowerStop Z36, EBC, Something i dont know about.
Ive read some great reviews on the PowerStop and i've read some terrible reviews.

3.Eventually 3.42/3.73 gears. The rig doesn't do any highway traveling on a daily basis, only when dragging the trailer somewhere or random excursions. Highway time is probably less than 20% of its life.

Yes i know this doesnt change the legal max gross weights. just looking for a better towing experience than stock

I do have the EFILive from BB and 33.5" tires if that makes much difference.

Thanks for all the help.

The heavier and longer that trailer is the worse it will be towing with the short wheelbase of the Tahoe. The taller tires also mess with the gearing as well. Do you already use a load leveling hitch when towing? Should use a sway control as well.

Ya i use the load leveling hitch. trailer is not super heavy (about 6800 lbs fully loaded)

3.73 gears will give you the equivalent of 3.42s on the stock tire size, good upgrade. Good in the city too, get you through the gears and up to speed faster before the next light too. Assuming you have 6-speed.

Brakes you have are plenty adequate unless you are running mountain passes, check out Hawk Performance for their pads. Truck guys like them, feel normal until they get hot and then go to work!

Ditch the transmission thermostat and if you do not have one, add the external cooler. Consider also the radiator mounted engine oil cooler. Your engine has the power to tow, it just needs a greater ability to shed heat if it does not have those K5L features.

I never thought about the trans cooler or engine oil cooler. Thanks.

The Hawk Pads are awesome, I have run them on all my vehicles. Problem: Hawk's website does not list a pad for the 2017 Tahoe Premier. any cross ref that you know of? is the 16 LTZ the same?

For the trans thermostat what's the benefit to removing it and how do you get rid of it without making the computer angry?
