Lot of work and travel. Not much time for either truck other than aired up the tires, put some fuel in and a few wipe downs.

Did buy this little guy at HF with a 25% coupon so about $18. Got great reviews on many different applications. Will see how it goes for the next month.

Ran it to the back of my house, up through the splash guard and around the intake with a big sign for the kids to not unplug it from the house. lol. I used the alligator clips as they fit tight and no chance of them being pulled off. The kit does include rings as well.

I have a maintainer on my '77. I have the box mounted in my bed and extended the electrical leads up to the battery. Then I can just plug the truck in at the back of the truck and it keeps the maintainer away from engine debris and such :)

Sweet setup. I just came up with a quick plan and the price was right too.

Getting ready for a Florida winter and time away....
@HiHoeSilver

Pretty dirty after a hard 2 days of rain. Wash, dry, battery maintainer and covered. See you next year...

That same battery tender is on my list, too, for the Denali. That cover looks nice, too. Where did you get it?

Cover Craft. I ordered it from Car Covers Direct as they had a 15% off sale at the time. It is the Technalon Evolution style which came recommended for the harsh Florida summers.

Post 103 has the details. It is a great cover. Has taken a beating from the summer sun. There are some threadbare spots where those pointy nubs on the Depo headlights have worn through. The elastic belt at the bottom has stretched a bit and actually just recently separated from the cover. I might hand stitch it back together.

There are grommets to pass under the middle of the truck and tie together. They offer their gust guard clips to go under the front and rear bumper to keep the wind from lifting the cover up. You can just get the plastic tarp clips with the alligator teeth and the slide from Lowe's and some line to hold the front and back down. Then I took 2 more clips and ran a line from the front underneath to the back just to make sure the cover did not lift up in the winds.

As well I took 2 smaller pieces of line and cinched down around both mirrors in the cover pockets so that is did not flop around.

And I got some cheapo under $30 wheel covers as well that have the soft inside and silver outside. They have clips but being lowered and the big tires and the cover, they stay in place and keep a lot of dirt and rain off the wheels.

Sure dust gets under the cover and rain leaves some fluffy bits, but I can uncover it, wipe it down and it is ready to go if I don't necessarily want to wash it right then.

Not having a garage it has saved a tremendous amount of elbow work from the sun, rain, dirt, birds, seeds, etc....not bad from buying it in 2015.

Long answer to just what kind of cover, but for me the benefits of having it since I travel a bit, is worth it. The paint, even at 13 years still looks amazing.

completely agree! Not being able to garage it when it's parked makes a cover a necessity over the long haul. Saves the whole vehicle from just cooking in the sun. Your plastic dash would be dust by now if not for that cover.

Sounds like the NNBS!! The NBS dash is in perfect shape other than a few scuffs.

Is it crazy for me to get one for a truck that is garaged, just because I won't drive it for a good few months? I thought it would keep dust off and maybe offer a little protection from people coming in and out walking past it constantly...

I don’t think so. I see a lot of cars in garages that are under cover to protect against inadvertently getting bumped, scuffed or scratched.
