My son ran my 2018 Yukon driver side mirror into the side of the garage. The mirror was folded in so it only shattered the plastic part on the bottom arm. The top is fine. I hate to replace the entire mirror so I was hoping to just swap the top half of the mirror housing that folds in on to a new bottom half. There are plenty of cheap replacement mirrors on eBay with missing glass and covers which I don't need.

Does any one know if this is possible?

Thanks!

When I look at GM Parts it lists the whole mirror. There is a member here that can look for you if you supply the last 8 digits of your VIN but I forget his screen name at this time. Either that or a salvage yard.

You're correct the mirror is only sold as a complete assembly but I was hoping I could buy a damaged one with a good lower arm to replace the broken piece on mine. Just want to know if it's even possible before attempting to do it. Thanks.

This sounds like a one off problem so may not know till see one at the salvage yard or attempt on your own. IMO, if I had a 2018 and is in great shape, I would opt for the new one after you recover from Christmas money spent.

By the way, show your son how to USE MIRRORS to back out of a garage or get better at depth of field sight when pulling in or out.

I don't have my vin# right now but I believe the physical mirror assembly is identical for any 2015+ Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade so I'm not really concerned with the exact part #.
My mirror is fully loaded with heater, side alert & puddle light but it should be compatible with any lower half arm mount. Does that make sense?

Please realize that 915_Tahoe is trying to help you and see if there is something that can be done to piece together a "patch" repair. He asks for the last 8 digits for a reason. You just joined and should just give him the last 8 digits when you can. He is very helpful to many of us, me included. He deals with known info instead of best guess info. I know you want to do the repair as inexpensively as you can and are sharing info you feel is good enough but his response info will be spot on and take the guess work out of it.
