6L80 Transmission

Hello to everyone. New to this forum.
Im needing a new trans for my 2016 Suburban. Anyone here have any experience buying one online? If so from where etc...
I am doing the swap myself. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

What is wrong with it? Many times, it is just the solenoids that need rebuilding and the kit is about $40 off Amazon. This can be accessed from the pan, no need to remove the transmission from the truck. You can buy a GM transmission with a 100K warranty but not sure if that is offered for a DIY install or requires a dealership.

It's slipping from a complete stop. Will rev for a second or so then BANGS into gear. 1st and 2nd shift ok, 3rd, it will shake and shudder. Lost power going up hill. Revs are up, vehicle not moving.
Pulled dipstick, cleaned it with my fingers, lots of pretty glittery material!

Probably time for new clutch plates, make sure you replace the torque converter too. There will be internal trouble codes stored for what is ailing that 6L80.

Interesting you said that. I took it to a shop. Guy told me it wasn't throwing any codes. He did say it was full of metal. At this point i just want to replace it. It got worse every time we drove it. I'm more comfortable replacing it than rebuilding it myself. Which brings me back to my original point, has anyone in here had experience buying a new tranny.

powertrain products sells transmissions there are options for standard 3yr parts & labor warranty or a extended 5yr no-fault warranty, I believe both are unlimited miles

I don't believe that guy but I've been wrong before. @wjburken replaced one I think as have others.

I understand the feeling. This shop is a small one. Local guy. They have some very good ratings here in town but still...never really know.

just go on there website, enter your information and submit it then they will call you on Monday with a quote, I've had good experience with them, there are a couple other company's that do the same thing, some offer upgrade options I think performabuilt is one
