Water under mat

I posted back in May about my problem with water under the driver side mat. Mine doesn't have a sunroof or antenna to leak. Had replaced windshield, door grommets, basically everything I could read about and nothing stopped it. I finally removed the door seal completely (both the inner seal and outer wind seal) placed them in bucket of soapy water for 24 hours and then wiped them clean and treated with Adam's VRT. While they dried I took a tooth brush and cleaned all the channels and painted surfaces that the seals come in contact with. Reassembled and no leaks since. That was done in July and I made it through the Florida rainy season without a drop. My theory is that even the tiniest amount of debris trapped in the channel and behind the outer (wide flat) wind seal allows water to bypass that seal. The excess water drips onto the inner tubular seal which has a small "breather" hole every few inches along its length in just the right spot to allow water to get inside. Then it flows down the hollow inner seal to the joint in the seal that is hidden under the door sill and flows out onto the carpet. What puzzled me was the shear volume of water that would come in during a single rain event. However, my driveway slopes away from the house and I back in to park. So my truck is nose-down and tilted slightly to the drive side. That directed all of the roof run-off towards the drivers door.

My seal was just loose. could push it in and out with the door closed.

I do agree though. Water would run along the inside U channel of the seal and come out at the floor, soaking the carpet from below.
