Still like to know why it did that, is it time for a new amp, been about 10 yrs
Hard to say, it’s either a loose wire connection or something inside the amp has a broken solder joint. How is the ground- check if it’s loose or corroded where it connects to the chassis.

You list an 06 and an 07 in your signature. Was this the 06? I ask because this is the section for 00-06. I am working on my daughters 04 Tahoe where the main speakers have no output except for the front door and rear pillar tweeters. She says once when she hit a bump the speakers worked for a while, which sounds similar to you "smacking" it. If this is the 06 did it originally have Bose? You say you have aftermarket head unit and speakers, but the amp in still in the loop? Where is this amp that you smacked? Thanks for any info you can provide.
