Yeah, its because the 09+ on both engines have VVT. Yes, if you make the intake tube bigger you’ll get higher manifold pressure on both the 5.3 and 6.2 because you increase the VE, same effect as reducing restriction in the same size as stock tube, just not as effective. Just like deleting the cats in stock Y pipe.

I saw nothing except louder sucking noise the year I had one on mine. I have one on my 2001, and have had it on there for like 10 years. I don't mind the noise on that one, it's old and has over 200k miles on it and is noisy inside anyway.... Lol

So making the opening in the fender so it's twice as big as the mass air, tubing, and throttle body increases the engines volumetric efficiency?

An engine only sucks in so much air, no matter how big the intake opening is.

2012 Yukon Denali XL

Well, I did Mod my fender and air box.

My thoughts are this...

IF it was a restriction, and I doubt very seriously that it was, then it isn't any more.

And if it wasn't a restriction, then it isn't going to hurt anything.

What I mean is... its certainly not going to take away any power. If anything it atleast eliminates any turbulence in the air caused by that piece being right in the center.

If nothing else, it will improve throttle response, which is great!

It’s certainly loud over 2500ish rpms.

Even when cruising at steady throttle? I've had mine so long and now a louder muffler, so I can't remember those details. I thought it was pretty quiet when cruising and only got loud with the engine under load.

80mph is just under 2k so it was fine for 1,000 miles. Under load above 2500 is where it’s loud, it weirdly gets quieter at like 4500+ rpm under load.

Ok, a little story if you'll indulge me.
My stupid+twist of fate=even.

Back in 2017 I ordered 201-719 for my 2006 Tahoe. It arrives, I excitedly put it on, and love it. Been serving me well ever since.

FF to this thread. I see a good opportunity to save $50 on an upgrade for the Denali with a product I've been happy with on the other truck. Part comes up as 201-712.

Ok, what's the difference? I do quite a bit of digging and the only thing I can find is 719 for electric fans, and 712 for "all models."

1. Thinking of the future, I'd love to get e fans in the Denali one day. Which do I buy?
2. Can't get over the fact that I swear my 201-719 will fit the Denali even though it has the clutch fan.

Been procrastinating/debating, but the $50 coupon is still live, so today after work I decide to play. I pull the tubes off both trucks and put the Airaid on the Denali. "I KNEW IT!" Fits just fine...almost too good AROUND THE FAN SHROUD. o_O

So now I'm thinking....why do they have 2 different models then? Maybe I'm confusing the numbers or something....So I dig out the box from mine (glad I kept it, full of extra parts).

No way....

I have thought, "I wonder why its shaped that way exactly?" But nothing more of it...
And with all the photos I've put up on here, I can't believe nobody's caught it, although it does take a certain angle, I suppose...

In conclusion, I unknowingly purchased the setup for my Denali 2+ years in advance, and have now saved the $50 on the one for the Tahoe.

It all evens out, so they say!
