I found that even a slightly larger rim makes for a way more expensive tire.

2 years ago when I had my '88 GMC truck, with 16" wheels, I got Michelins at $142.00,
6 months later when I bought my '05 Yukon with 17" rims, the same tire was nearly a hundred bucks more each. And that was also from Discount Tire.

Have used Michelin Defender LTX several times, I have Michelin Premier LTX on my callaway tahoe, they want me to "test them on a Callaway" so I said sure, the price was right ;) Have Michelin's on all 9 on my cars and suv's
So what's the difference between the Defender and the Premier? Between the two, which is the better one on a Tahoe / Yukon?

So I’ve been watching the tire threads for 3 years. Pretty much since I got my 15 suburban in late 16. I bought used and the dealer put on brand new Pirelli scorpion verde plus (22”) tires. I had my front suspension (MRC) replaced at 44k miles...out of warranty. The suburban has always rode a bit rough but better after the swap. Well after less than 30k miles the Pirelli tires were pretty beat so today I had the Michelin Defenders installed after everyone else’s glowing reviews. Well they make a huge difference in ride quality and noise. Noticeable the moment I drove away from the tire shop. So I’m a believer as well. I look forward to trying them in the snow and everything else Ohio weather will throw at them. So if anyone is still asking if the Michelin’s are worth the $263/tire. The answer is yes. Huge difference!
