I have a 2001 Suburban 2500 with the 6.0L. It has 174k miles and drives fine, BUT I seem to notice a weird intermittent engine stuttering/palpitating sensation when idling. No check engine codes (I even hooked up the OBD2 to make sure).

It is strange, because it seems like it's skipping a beat every other second or so. I can feel the vibration in the steering wheel when it does. Do you think it's the spark plugs? The battery voltage seems to be fine. Starts right up and maintains voltage. Everything else seems healthy. What could it be?

I would hook up some kind of scanner and see if it shows anything, could be an dirty/sticky injector, wires, plugs, coil pack.
do you ever use any injector cleaner?

Yea, would be nice to know that you use quality fuel and like was just recommended, run some injector cleaner thru it. Do you use just regular fuel in it? The higher grades have more additives and therefore do a better job of keeping injectors/fuel systems cleaner. How old are the spark plugs? Might also want to get the kit at an auto parts store and follow directions and clean the MAF. How old is the fuel filter?

I hooked up a scanner and no codes were thrown. I've never used injector cleaner.

I'm not sure how old the plugs are. I bought it last month and it seemed everything that I could check was good. I would have to take a plug out to get a look. I have no idea what the condition is on the fuel filter.

That's a code reader, a scan tool can see what's going on inside the computer system. With a Tech-2 for example, you can run tests on your EVAP system, turn off injectors and coils, graph or monitor the O2 sensors and a host of other things that could cause your symptoms.

Those little bottles of SuperTech fuel injector cleaner at Walmart work good, about $1 each, run a couple of tanks of high octane gasoline from a top tier station too.

Buying used means getting to a baseline with the new to you vehicle. Check everything and get as much paperwork from the old owner. Check the plugs, all fluids and replace them and filters so you know where you are at. Don't forget the cleaning of the MAF. Plug wires. Run the mid range at least on your fuel so you can try to keep the fuel system clean.
