I have a 1999 Yukon Denali 4 wheel drive I am having trouble with starting the truck will start up when jumped only, I had a hub assembly problem I replace them but while it's sat untill i had the the money to fix which is only about 2 weeksy one I replaced em and now it won't start it's a brand new battery (4\19) I was told it was starter issue so I replace the starter still won't start makes a noise I'm unfamiliar with (not a clicking noise) and it will only start when jumped but once I turn it off and try to restart it it doesn't work the battery was dead so I recharged it with the charger for about 10 hours at 8 amps and I'm kind of lost on what to do next. It will run and drive as long as I don't turn it off I'm assuming the alternator is doing its job cuz it's keeping its charged while driving only so if you guys have any ideas on what it could be please let me know

Can you tell if there was an aftermarket alarm installed?
I had a similar issue on a different vehicle many years ago, short version is that the previous owner ran the starter interrupt with speaker wire and the only way to start was jumping or push starting because the wire was too small for the voltage and literally had to overload the system.

I believe it is a stock alarm system and not aftermarket

Need to get battery tested. Depending on the quality of battery it may have sulfated across the plates and now will not hold a charge, after sitting for that length of time. You also should check to see if there is a too large of a draw on the system. Sounds to me like was ok before hub work. Try to remember if you did any work near any wiring when you did the hubs. You should not have but I was not the fly on the wall to know.

Might also be worth cleaning up all the main ground cables and positive cable at the battery, alternator and fuse block to rule that out.

bad battery or bad alternator, you need to get a meter and check the voltage at the battery before you try to start it (resting voltage should be just above 12v like 12.2, etc), then once it has been started check the voltage again while it is running.
if the voltage does not change or even goes down the alternator is bad, if the voltage goes up then you likely have a bad battery, with the engine running you should be getting 13v+ at the battery, the fact that it starts with a jump tells me the cables are probably fine but you could wire brush them just to be sure sometimes corrosion is hidden until you take the cables off.

Like just said, basics first.

And then there's the weak bolt holding the battery terminal cables that is designed to fail before the thread in the battery does. If you can move the battery cables at all when they're tightened down, they either need to be tighter or you need a new bolt.
