New here and just bought a 2015 Yukon XL Denali. Here is my question, I have the heat set to 70 to warm the car up but when I turn the fan on the A/C comes on automatically. I have to hit the A/C button every time to turn it back off. Is this normal and if so, why?

yes, the ac function is essentially used as a dehumidifier perfectly normal

Normal, as Doubeleive states. The only exception is when the outside temperature goes below 30 degrees F. or there abouts, the A/C won't automatically start, when you turn the heater on, and you won't see the A/C light lit.

70F suggests the A/C turn it to MAX heat
also the boomers claim turning it on helps warm the engine faster

Hmmm warms it faster using AC. Guess that makes sense cuz you turn off AC when overheating. Way to complicated for this old man.

Yeah heats up the condenser, which will heat up the radiator/engine compartment faster, and the load from the compressor puts some strain on the motor to warm that up faster. Not a lot faster, just a bit. Plus dehumidifies. Dry air warms up faster than humid air. The computer will kick the compressor in as needed even if the light is on it won't run all the time, just as programmed and according to the cabin sensor readings.
