2011 Sub 160K. Truck is really down on power all the sudden. No codes, been to two different GM shops, they cant figure out with is wrong. fresh tune up, oil level and condition is good. I'm really wondering about VVT or DOD or AFM causing the issue. Any ideas on what to start on?

Gas mileage down a little too? If so, probably time for new cats, they are about to set codes...

James will know but I think it’s in the 0455 0456 family. Might be off a tad many codes can list O2 as a possible problem. I believe a Tech2 can tell you before it happens.

I guess cats too. Warm the engine up and then hold at a steady 2000 rpm and use a gloved hand to feel the pressure from out the tailpipe. Plus, hook up the Tech 2 and start looking. A back pressure reading at the exhaust is also a test that a tech can run. 2500 rpm should be in the neighborhood of 1-4/5 psi but over that will indicate a clogged system.

Yes mileage is down also. What codes will they set? How do I confirm that before dropping the coins on that?

P0420 and P0430 are cat specific codes. If you can see your sensors with a scan tool, the downstream O2 sensors, those behind the cats, should read fairly constant. If they are moving like the upstream O2 sensors, then you know the cats are not doing their job anymore.

Save your old cats and sell them to the scrap man, retail scrap price for a GM cat is about $75 and you have three.
