Greetings! I'm joining forces with what appears to be the best tahoe/yukon forum. With our powers combined we can make captain plan...... Anyway I'm interested in finding out how to fix a mysterious Headlight issue. The high beams turn off and the low beams come on as if the switch was used but WITHOUT using the turn signal switch! The blue high beam indicator turns off. Then it comes back on after 5 seconds or so. I have found fuse/relay diagrams for the box under the hood and the box in the door jam but I have not found one for the components located under the steering wheel. (I'm thinking there should be a relay for the lights that is turning the high beams off and low beams on. As if the high beams overloaded the relay.) This is on a 1999 Tahoe 260k miles running strong. Rough gravel road use, I've patched and secured various wires already. Is there a common rub through point for the high beams?

Welcome, you may want to post this up in the 91-99 section for the best response, off hand sounds like maybe a bad/worn switch

Welcome to the Forum. And, this IS the best Tahoe/Yukon Forum. ;)

Folks here will respond to your question with their perspectives and recommendations.

Also, there are some folks here who seem to be able to provide wiring diagrams for just about anything on these trucks.

was the problem present before the light switch and turn signal switch was replaced?

any rust? makes me wonder if there is a short somewhere and making the relay go goofy or a bad relay

The bright light failure was not present before the turn signal switch replacement. The issue was present before and after the dash headlight switch replacement. Minimal rust, just light surface rust on unpainted surfaces. The bright lights will now stay off for 3-5 minutes.
