I changed the air in the tires on my blown 02 Denali and went from 9.9 to 10.0 mpg so anything’s possible. :laughing1:

Mark, did you replace the air with inside air or outside? If you put pure outside air in your tires I think you'll get another .1 mpg. :)

I guess it’s outside air but it went inside my compressor first.

Another factor to consider would be the gas company’s switching to “winter blend” fuels (which usually happens mid-September)....however, winter blends usually tend to decrease mileage.

The difference between summer- and winter-blend gasoline involves the Reid Vapor Pressure (RVP) of the fuel. ... The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) says conventional summer-blend gasoline contains 1.7 percent more energy than winter-blend gas, which is one reason why gas mileage is slightly better in the summer.

I have a 2007 GMC Denali 6.2 L
I know it's been talked about lots and lots of times on this post but I cannot be even begin to tell you how pleased I am I have AC Delco synthetic blend in the engine ACDelco synthetic in the transmission completely throughout mobile 1 synthetic and the front and rear differentials I have AC Delco synthetic in the transfer case, I have a K&N air filter. The excitement was too much
I did not reset my meter it raised on itself I will do the math on paper and follow up stay tuned if you like. Feel free to post your MPG
Oh by the way I went from 12.3 now its 14.8View attachment 233557

I have a 2003 Tahoe and a 2007 Yukon XL Denali, both running Amsoil Signature Series 5w30 oil, Synthetic Transmission fluid and Synthetic Diff fluid. I average 14.2 in the Tahoe (50/50 mix highway/city) and 14.6 in the Denali (60/40 mix highway/city). I might add, highway cruise speed is usually 70 to 75. One other thing, both have over 200,000 miles. Gas mileage has always stayed the same.

No way, no how, did a change of fluids and an air filter increase your mileage by 20%.

FYI: ACDelco Dexron VI is a full synthetic now. Grumpy Bear over on the GM-Trucks forum has recorded a significant increase in fuel efficiency when he switch to Red-Line synthetic transmission fluid. He's also measured an increase by switching oil viscosities, it's his hobby. His V6 Silverado averages over 30 mpg.

I noticed that mine runs smoother when all the driveline fluids are fresh, before that she was like a bucking horse.

I did not know that and always assumed it was just a change in alcohol content. Your post led me to delve further into why which led to this:

“Gasoline formulators vary the composition of gas in the hot summer months and the colder winter months, in order to meet emissions and air quality standards. This “reformulated” gas is blended in such a way that it has a lower vapor pressure in the summer and a high vapor pressure in the winter blends. This means the summer gas evaporates less and thus contributes less to the “evaporative emissions” which represent million of gallons of gasoline per year evaporated in the air. Winter gas is more volatile and evaporates more quickly, so it is ideal for it is used in the colder air of winter.

In terms of gas mileage, you get better mileage on summer blends than winter blends because the summer blend gasoline has about 2% greater energy value than winter blend. So the gas you are using now most likely has a lower energy value than the gas you used in the winter. That means a little bit lower mileage for you until the spring time, when they will reintroduce summer blend gasoline. And this is beyond mileage loss you see with ethanol being blended into both summer and winter fuels. Cars, trucks, boats and small engines, all will see the difference in mileage and fuel consumption between the seasons.

Why can’t they just use summer blend gas all year round? Summer blend gas doesn’t work as well in the cold winter months because it is less volatile and doesn’t evaporate as well. This contributes to starting problems in the winter. Hence winter blend gas is prepared to eliminate this issue.”

I average 23.4MPG i reset the mpg 3,000 miles ago.. :)

that is using a Custom blended oil
I got the Idea from project farm.. 1 qt 0w30 and 5qt 5w30...

the Best EVER was 28.7MPG Combined not too bad for a 6.0L V8 over 212miles

I'd guess your oil blend adds 00.00 mpg.

Are you driving 45 mph on flat ground for that 3,000 miles? What vehicle and engine?
