I started PIAA silicone wipers on our cars last year and plan to keep it that way.

I am pretty impressed so far. with these Bosch icons. Crazy thing is that our local Walmart had discontinued the Bosch Icon blades and had several in a box for $4.00 each but only had 2 of the 22A blades that I needed. I would have bought 1/2 a dozen if they had them LOL. It will be interseting to see how long they last i am pretty impatient when frost is on the windshield and tend to turn them on before it is clear which destroys the baldes in short order.

we would always just throw some warm water on the window or hit it with the hose depending how much frost there was

He never even said WHAT conditioner to use, and at first he says to heat them with a hair dryer and soak them up to over night, but at the end he sprays something on the windshield and says to just do that twice a year and you’re good. I wonder what a mess those make on your windshield ? What do you use? I’m so confused after watching that...
I thought the exact same thing!

Come try that by me! You would be throwing a bucket of ice cubes on your window by the time you got from the door to the truck...lol!

I just let that ol girl idle for at least a good 1/2 hour before I go anywhere.

if I lived in that cold of a environment I would be a bit more creative like some kind of heating pad across the dash on a timer, I bet someone makes one if not there's your million dollar idea

in the comment section there is a link to the conditioner, the twice a year spray application was just to keep it freshened up after doing the initial soaking
at any rate no way the blades have lasted for years, dam things barely make it a year and they start tearing at the ends, paper thin rubber isn't going to last years

He uses 303 Protectant (the miracle protectant in a lot of people’s opinions) and he sprays the blades on the vehicle with it to show the twice a year quick refresh. I’ve done this when I got the new Icon blades a year and a half ago and they still look/perform like new...so far I’m a believer.

They also have a video about using 303 on your belts to make them last significantly longer which I’ve also done and all my belts look amazingly new. Maybe I’m just believing the ‘hype’ but seems to work for me so far!

They have a ton of good videos on that site that can save some serious $ and some of the best videos on additives and/or oil ‘mixtures’ which are interesting as well as some awesome products they have found - one is a plastic/rubber revitalizer which looks to be superior to anything else...I’m going to have to try..

I’m with @HiHoeSilver on this.

If you throw warm/hot water on a windshield in the middle of a Midwest winter, the thermal shock will shatter your glass. Seen it when I was a teenager. A guy from Texas moved in next door and was making fun of me being a hick and scrapping my windshield. He said “this is how you get ice off of a windshield” as he threw a pan of warm water on his windshield only to get a loud boom as the windshield shattered.

I reached into my trunk and handed him my spare scrapper and told him to use it the next time after he gets his windshield replaced.
