New to me 2003 Tahoe:

the front door windows are not working at all. the driver door master switch will operate the rear windows just fine but not the fronts. when i click the front window switch the only thing that happens is that the right door makes a clicking noise kind of like a relay is clicking but the windows (either window) will not operate.

i have tested this with a known good working master switch and a known good passenger switch with the same results.

the problem with the clicking noise is that i am unable to click the master switch and isolate the clicking noise on the other side of the truck at the same time (arms not long enough) and i have no one at the moment to help me out.

any clue what would cause ONLY the front door windows to not operate?

thanks in advance

Izzy

Bump for someone with better knowledge than me.

My guess is to check the regulator inside the door. Take one out and put 12V to it and see if it moves. That's where I would start if it was me. Odds of both of those failing seems slim, but it's a start.

Thank you MrBall.

I was able to dig into this a few days ago and indeed both front regulators are bad. I put 12 volts to them and they just fizzled and smoked, not only are they bad but they are a fire hazard lol. I will replace them in the coming weeks. Joy!

I replaced both front window regs yesterday, these work as they should now. I feel like an idiot for not checking to see if the regs were bad from the start. I figured the chances of both regs being bad was slim to none since I have bought literally 25+ trucks and Tahoes in this body style and have never had a bad reg before. Live and learn I guess.

Does seem slim they both went out.
My rear one needs replacing. I think it fell off track and the wire began to eat the plastic so the bottom of my door has plastic all in it. Don't ever have passengers so not too high on my list. Glad you got yours working again though.

Get your hands on a wiring diagram and a good meter and know how to read and use them.

Power windows are the most complicated wiring ordeal in most cars today. If changing out a switch didnt fix it, then you need a meter and diagram to troubleshoot it further. Otherwise you'll just be changing parts hoping it fixes it.
