Did you clear the codes when you installed the new MAF? The PCM might be doing better with the old MAF because it has already compensated for it's input. The new MAF totally skews these tables so it runs worse.

The MAP sensor also plays a role in drivability and load calculations so there could be something going on there.

I'd reset the PCM and try the new MAF. The way I've always done it is to pull all ECM fuses with the engine running, waiting about 10 minutes, reinstalling the fuses then starting as normal. It may stall a few times as it relearns idle. Don't try to help it by giving it throttle. Let it do it's thing and just restart it.

I’m pretty good at following directions but this vehicle is still new to me. Where are the ECM fuses? After I pull them (with the engine running) doses the vehicle stall? Or do I turn it off? If it is supposed to stall, do I turn off the key. thanks for all he help. I’ll mess with it for a week or so and then I’ll get it to the shop if there are still issues

I don't know the exact locations of the ECM fuses, but they'll be in the under hood fuse/relay center labeled something like "ECM 1 (or 2)" or "PCM 1" or "ECM A (or B)" or "PCM A",

It'll stall because you're "killing the brain". After pulling the fuses, turn the key off, replace the MAF, reinstall the fuses, then start it as normal.

There's a chance the cheap replacement MAF isn't so accurate or is faulty, but there's also a chance that it may be fine.

I know this is an easy thing to ignore, so I'll ask again.

When is the last time it got a new air filter?

I put the new MAF back in and pulled the fuse to the pcm and ecm. Hard to start but it leveled out and ran really good for a 5 mile drive. But when I cam back to come home it would not start. Seemed to be flooding, smelled strong of gas. Had to put the original MAF back in and it started right up and drove home well

Guess I’ll order an ac delco MAF orbs the Delphi better?

I also fixed my trailer switch... yaaa At least repairing that wire was easy.

@915_Tahoe

My vin number last 8 (4J309022)
Curious what the OEM part number should be?

I installed a Delphi AF10043, went on a camping trip 400 + miles with no check engine and no codes.

Engine did not noticeably stumble at all.

Seems like I’m good now but I’d like to know what the OEM is

Thanks for all the help

I’ve been running a Delphi for years with no troubles.
