you can buy hi flow cats off ebay for 50 ish a pop, have the old cats cut out, and weld in the new ones. no need to replace the whole Y pipe.

Take it to a muffler shop you can have a good replacement installed and out the door for $160ish, this guy wants to to do your whole exhaust that's not necessary unless it's a rust bucket

Make sure you take your old cats--oems are worth $$. I have a new high flow cat for $65--just sayin.

I had my cat welded on for about $180 by a local exhaust shop. Your mechanic is quoting for a bolt on system. Check out an exhaust shop.

As stated the cats are welded on not bolted. The guy is way off. Replace them soon so some of what’s broken off doesn’t block your exhaust or land in your resonator or muffler.

Not sure if that is cheap quality but it shouldn’t be anymore than a 100.00 to install I’m guessing as it’s a direct bolt on.

I think I would get a couple more shops to diagnose it.

Do you know what each of these cats are worth? I work in Detroit so have a bunch of different scrapyards and junkyards around here. Just quickly from talking to one guy he said he’d give me $50.00 a piece. He’s in the business of buying used car parts from junkyards so my guess is I’d be selling much under market?

This is a video from this morning. Took it to the exhaust shop this afternoon, when they removed the cat it confirmed that the honeycomb came loose and was causing the rattle. Problem fixed now, no more noise. I appreciate everyone’s help. Thought it was crazy two shops diagnosed it as a bad engine. Posting this video to help anyone else out.

I would not buy those you will get p0420 with them it's not certified for use on the Tahoe (independently tested)
