When I was in law enforcement we got 10 a year, I'd give maybe 2-3 out and throw the rest away. I was actually a dual member of PBA/FOP.

i handed one of these cards over to a cop in south jersey, i had no clue there was two cop unions. he looked at me like i made the card myself. he called his boss and he was told to honer it or not, up to you. so he gave me a verbal warning and gave me back the card lol

in reality the cop was in the wrong, i was driving a roll off truck on a no trucks except local delivery's road, i was dropping off a box at a house, he could not seem to fathom this delivery. im like on the map i see no other route to this house, but this road for a good 2-3 miles.....no idea how he thought id get there, but i went back to the turnpike the same way i came in.

Left hand on steering wheel....
You see a Cop, Sheriff or Fireman driving toward you... Left palm on steering wheel....

Open your hand wide showing your whole hand as a wave hello ( palm on wheel)..

99.99 % of the time they will wave back the same way. This is usually because you or family is law enforcement.

I do it all the time by habit. ..Automatic....

If a radar is pointed straight at you and you do the 'hello wave', they actually see that, and the radar lowers, and they wave back.

Having said that,... I truly "have their back"....

I've always done this and didn't even know it was "code"! LOL

I was working in Pasadena, Ca. A very old town just North of city L.A. ...A huge Firetruck - a Ladder truck, was making a sharp right turn toward me on this little city street. I did the 'wave".

As the driver was man-handling the huge beast, and 2 of the other occupants inside .. waved at me as if we were at a football game!!

I can still picture it....Funny as hell.....
