Hi all,
This forum has been a godsend to me for fixing my '05 Tahoe and I need help once more. When I am driving under 40 mph, I hear a clicking noise. It sounds just like a worn out CV axle noise from a FWD vehicle. If I am driving at highway speeds, I don't get the noise. The sound is driving me crazy hehe.

since it occurs at low speed you should be able to just jack up the rear end put it in gear and get a better determination, be sure to chock the front wheels and keep away from any moving parts I know that's common sense but....ya never know, if the sound does not occur then you will know it is from the front wheels/hubs/brakes, in which case then jack up the front wheels and give them a spin and check for any play on the hubs by grabbing the wheel at 12 & 6 and see if it has any play or not, 9 & 3 will have a little bit because of the steering but shouldn't be excessive.

I finally got off my lazy ass and checked for the source of the clicking noise. The noise is coming from the driver side hub bearing. I can get a pair of hub bearings from 1Aauto for $99, which is a great price for two bearings. The Moog and Timken bearings were like $150 for just one. No, thank you.

Not denying they're on the upper end of the market price. But timken bearings are worth every penny.

Make sure determine if your new set comes with new axle nuts, and if not, make arrangements to get them.

I only have RWD, not 4WD, but thanks for the tip. I'm sure the Moogs and Timkens are great brands, but money is tight. I'm just hoping the ones from 1Aauto will last me a while.
