Welp.... the noise came back this afternoon. The lead shop tech, who’s a good friend of mine, rode along again with me today, to listen to the noise. It’s very intermittent and random. Happens driving in a straight line on smooth roads. Not over bumps, cornering at turning. He thinks something is banging around rotationally where it shouldn’t. He put truck up on the rack again this afternoon and couldn’t find any that my out of place. Took air and blew all the dust out of my brakes and rotors. And those all checked out. He said there isn’t any issues there. I leave for Vermont Monday for 9 days for a funeral back there. So they’re gonna look at it again when I get back, but we are all kinda stumped on this one so far.....
I’m really irritated at this point with it.

So as it turns out, I had an 02 sensor on the driver’s side that was loose. It was hanging low and rattling against the drive shaft. It’s fixed and no more noise. I’m happy. And it got fixed all while I was working at the shop today which was even better. I didn’t have any down time.
Lucky...

So it’s been a bit. Because I was on the east coast for 9 days for a funeral. And then had to get everything back in order last week when I got home. At any rate, while I was washing cars today for my client that owns the big mechanic shop, the shop guys put my truck up on the rack and started digging around. Pulled each wheel off and snooped around. Front brakes checked out good as well as hub assemblies and front end steering components. Tires came off. Out
When he pulled the driver’s side rear rotor off, the parkingg brake shoe was bad. A piece of it had almost completely fallen loose and was rattling around in between the parking brake and the big drum shape of the rear rotor. So it was making all kinds of racket as I was driving. Thankfully it didn’t do any damage. So they replaced both rear parking brake shoes and it’s good to go! Pic of the bad shoe:

Didn’t get a pic of the broken piece that was rattling around though. He said it’s a common issue on this gen truck.

Maybe you ran over an animal and it hasn't all rotted away yet?
I’ve never hit an animal with this rig. Only way that scenario is possible is if something crawled up in somewhere and then died. Which is entirely possible. I haven’t found anything of that sort though.
