Issues with my build

Hey everyone, I had a question about an issue with my build.

I recently did a cam swap, new lifters, trunnions, springs, a TBSS intake manifold with 36# Injectors and a 92mm throttle body.

I also ordered the traditional tune from blackbear.

Well now that it is all back together I have p0121 and p0122.

I cleaned the MAF like blackbear suggested in instructions.

I took it to a shop to have the crank relearn done

I fiddled with the set screw on my throttle body.

I've replaced the TPS cause we let the valve slap closed accidentally once so we thought we broke the sensor.

I replaced the harness connector too cause the TPS came with a new connector.

Now I've thrown money at the problem and it didn't fix it lol.

Now before all this, I accidentally snapped an intake manifold bolt off in the top of the block. We blew cigar smoke in there and didn't see a leak. Would an intake manifold leak cause this?

I found an old hp tuner forum post about how this was a tuning issue related to MAF sensor maximum settings or something.

Any other ideas?

how does it run with the MAF/MAP ( manifold absolute pressure )disconnected ? it should force factory default setting..


what kind of fuel do you use?
cheap garbage no name gas
or top tier fuel?


what octane rating?

I'll have to try unplugging the MAF when i get back to my truck tomorrow.

But I use Kwik Trip gas which I believe is top tier.

I just put 87 in on the last fill up.

yeah it is top tier..

normally they say the MAF has to be replaced if cleaning it did not work..


you did use MAF cleaner right?

Yeah, CRC brand MAF cleaner. The only reason I cleaned the MAF was because the instructions from blackbear suggested doing that.

The P0121 codes are TPS codes so I didn't think about replacing the MAF

Did you try Throttle Pedal Position Sensor?

the connections are nice and clean right your getting resistance in the cables somewhere

CHECK your ground wires as well funky things can happen when it's not connected or not making good contact

if you have a mutimeter probe the connections for the voltage..

idle = .5 Volts; full throttle = 4.5 Volts.

if you are seeing 12/14volts then you have a high voltage short to your 5VDC rail

Sorry I forgot to mention this is for a 2001 Tahoe with 5.3 and 4l60e

Since it is drive by cable, is there a throttle body relearn I need to do? It is a new 92mm TB and not the stock one.

Could that be it?
